Clarion Offers Seasoned, High Scoring Guard

Gritty, high-wired 5-foot-10 guard Gerald Jarmon earned a Division-II offer from Clarion University this week.

During his second season at Scotland Campus Sports, the Class of 2020 guard brings a wealth of experience (he’s played meaningful varsity minutes since his freshman year in high school), three-level scoring aptitude, and ambidextrous finishing and passing ability.

The Harrisburg, Pa. native had multiple games of 4+ 3-pointers last season, including a 21-point performance during a road win at Harcum College (Pa).

Jarmon had a team-best 22 points during the Knights’ loss to Haverford (PA) and Inter-Ac Player of the Year Christian Ray (now at LaSalle), earning an All-Tournament team nod during the Albright College tournament.

He provided a jolt of energy with his scoring, consistently hitting transition 3-pointers and attacking the rim against bigger rim protectors down low.

Jarmon’s toughness and fearlessness in his instinctive on-ball defensive acumen and scoring is a direct byproduct of the workload he put in under his father, local AAU coach and trainer Gerald Jarmon.

Jarmon Sr. was a four year starter at Richmond University, where he helped pilot the team to a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Playing both high school and post-grad last season, Jarmon’s knack for manufacturing points and sparking the Knights with that momentum-bolstering shot is ultimately the component differentiating him from other tough, diminutive guards of his type.

What he lacks in height he atones for with his relentlessness and skill set in knowing how to read and pick apart a defense.

Basketball IQ, shot selection, and ability to impact the ball on both sides of the court are areas of his game which have grown immensely these past two seasons.

The structure and ramped up schedule and around the clock focus on skill development were instrumental factors in Jarmon’s decision to transfer from public school to the prep route.

He’s taken advantage by utilizing his full scoring arsenal, playing a high level schedule that includes various junior colleges, and maximizing on the time to work on his craft.

Jarmon’s game will best align with the college that needs a high energy guard who can offer immediate contributions as a scorer and a guy who can manufacture offense from the get-go.

Jarmon III was one of the top performers in the GYM Rats Challenge in Albany, N.Y. this summer. He averaged 21.8 PPG during the event, including a 28-point eruption.
