Junior Morel, baseball: The young, beyond-his-years talent has been an integral figure in Scotland’s rapid ascension as one of the premier prep programs.
Possessing raw power and investing as much work in the process as anyone, Morel has consistently provided timely hits and engineered scoring spurts for the Knights.
Coach Josh Edgin’s has been powered by layered depth and the level of consistency which makes an offensive onslaught an every game possibility.
The Knights’ reliability at the dish enabled them to trounce in and out of state foes by an average margin of victory of 9.5 runs throughout the first 15 games of the season.
Morel’s poise with RISP and ability to jump on starters throughout the fall season has pumped promise into the Knights, which will again boast a pair of draft-worthy prospects.
In its second season since revamping the baseball program and officially developing the Scotland Campus Sports baseball program, Scotland has increased in numbers and depth.
Morel is hitting a robust .310 for the 22-2-1 Knights, which feature multiple hitters hiked up over .400 through 25 games. He turned in a two-home run, 5 RBI performance against Washington Select. He’s driven in 11 runs this year.
Jack Ramsey, basketball: The 6-foot-5 forward from Colorado has been an embodiment of the workload necessary for the postgraduate year, which has the tendency to speed by quick.
The well-built left-handed Class of 2020 prospect possesses a guard/wing’s skill set and has flashed springboard bouncy finishing ability.
He boasts the type of powerfully built frame and deceptive hops to erupt for that momentum-bolstering dunk. With his ability to attack the gaps and score in traffic and also knock back the outside shot, Ramsey has the potential to be a major signee at a Division-II or high academic Division-III.
Given his status as a 4.2 GPA/high honor roll student and the competitive slate of classes he’s thrived in, it would not be far fetched to throw out Ivy League projections.
As an undersized forward who can board up and attack the run, Ramsey has a unique opportunity to ramp up his recruitment as a sleeper this season. Similar to Scotland Campus products such as Akrum Ahemed (Canisius) and Chris Whitaker (Portland State), Ramsey has the tool-set to becoming a surprising factor who can overcome a lack of early buzz if he plays to his potential on elevated stages.
