Albany Products Waiting In The Wings

Two of the Albany area’s most intriguing guards and unsigned prospects have a wealth of opportunity in front of them.

Zay Little, who was an integral piece in Green Tech’s ascension of the state playoffs this past year, is a multi-positional 6-foot-5 scorer and playmaker.

Defensively, he guards nearly every position on the floor and is capable of hitting timely 3-pointers and manufacturing points in a variety of ways. His ability to attack the run, and his lift off, are factors which translate to the highest level of play.

Little is known for his ability to trigger scoring runs, engineering spurts with outside shooting and the ability to manufacture points at the free throw line. He averaged 25 points and culminated a memorable senior season with Channel 13 News All Star Selection.

His friend and JUCO transfer, Albany product and former Guilderland guard Dylan Gizzi, is another enticing unsigned piece. The 6-foot guard is a willing passer with a purity of vision as a playmaker and a knack for whizzing timely passes.

Adept at attracking the gaps and scoring, Gizzi has opened up a feathery 3-point shot and proved he could take game changing matters into his own hands during his lone JUCO year. Having bounced back from injuries that derailed his first semester, Gizzi is stoked with confidence and working at a maniacal pace to find that next college hoops destination.

Despite being hampered by injuries, Gizzi showed out during a 20-point, five assist and five rebound performance during a win over Lackawanna. The flashes continued with a 14-point, eight assist and six steals performance he turned in against Westchester Community College.

The Albany area has long been a traditional breeding ground for gritty, high octane guards. Little and Gizzi would be ideal late pickups at this stage in the recruitment process.
