As a unique offensive threat with a quick catch and release game and range out to the NBA 3-point line, 6-foot-10 Class of 2023 DME Academy (FL) forward Alex Doyle is beginning to register his versatile presence all across the recruiting market.
Currently plying his trade with the France national team, the burgeoning international prospect averaged 17 points playing with the Showtime Ballers this summer.
Utilizing his pick and pop game and the rare aptitude for putting the ball on the deck and creating opportunity off the dribble, Doyle has found his niche as a jack of all trades type.
Having established a fall away jumper from 15-20 feet out and the ability to post up on smaller defenders and get a bird’s eye view of the rim for his high arching shot, Doyle is developing the bedrock assets which renders him a mismatch.
“Bigs that guard me are usually slower or bigger, so I use my length and ball handling to get to the basket or find my mid range shot,” explained Doyle, who was recently offered by the new staff at New Mexico State and holds additional offers from Stetson, UMBC and Alabama A & M.
“My ability to shoot the three at a long distance gives me the ability to stretch the floor for my team.”
Part of Doyle’s evolution, as he explained, has been assessing what opportunity presents itself based on the defender and schemes.
Playing with more relentlessness and buying into a newfound leadership role has motivated Doyle.
“I’ve matured a lot mentally and I will be more of a leader on and off the floor,” Doyle said.
“I will be more of a scorer than I was, but at the same time I’m always big on team play.”
Having recently spoken with the likes of Arizona State, UCF, NC State, and SMU, Doyle is cognizant he enters his senior year as a marked man.
Doyle will now relish the challenge that comes with playing in the talent-rich SIAA-Florida conference with lofty expectations. Four teams from the SIAA conference were ranked in the national Top-20 last season.
“The goal will still be the same,” Doyle said.
“Get better as a player and a person and win. I want to win.”
