Center Grove 2024 Guard Starting To Blossom

Following a summer spent refining her game and readying herself for a leadership role, Class of 2024 guard Audrey Annee has quickly developed into a floor spreading, long range shooting source and poised scoring presence for 12-4 Center Grove of Indianapolis.

Annee was the engine who helped propel Center Grove to a Carol Tumey Holiday tournament title, averaging 17 PPG in two games. She was named to the All Tournament team.

An offense now predicated on thorough ball movement has allowed this team to thrive.

The Trojans’ system gives shooters the freedom to catch and fire and simultaneously allows 6-foot-3 Center Rachel Wirtz to operate as an interior scoring threat. It has all cultivated a formidable local product under defensive-minded head coach Kevin Stuckmeyer.

“Our offense has just been really fluid,” said Annee, who spearheaded the Trojans with a game-best 20 points en route to a 64-41 win over Jeffersonville in the aforementioned Tumey tournament championship.

“We’ve been fortunate to have (senior point guard) Ella Hobson, she’s a really good distributor. When she drives, everyone collapses. And she can find myself or (outside shooter) Savanna Bischoff.”

Annee’s 3-point onslaughts and ability to seize the focal point role is a byproduct of her AAU schedule, one which criss-crossed the country and included exposure-heavy environments.

She played on the prestigious EYBL circuit in Iowa and in the Nike Nationals in Chicago. She was able to register her presence as a shot-maker and a pesky on ball defender, instigating turnovers and quickly converting steals into transition scoring opportunities.

Annee is still in the embryonic stages of her recruitment, albeit she has been in contact with multiple Division-I coaches.

She’s a high academic prospect who boasts a 4.0 GPA with four AP classes.

Part of Annee’s ascension has been her status as a buy-in girl. She spent the summer launching 300 shots a day at the local Indianapolis YMCA. She subscribed to a daily regimen which included working via the shooting gun and simulating game situations.

“Getting the repetitions down has really helped me gain consistency,” said Annee, who will now play with the prestigious Indiana Elite, the Adidas-based AAU program.

The consistency in scoring has come along, too. The junior guard diversified her scoring package, attacking the rim more and applying shot fakes and earning trips to the free throw line.

The high order commitment to her craft and summer days at the YMCA have paid immediate dividends.

Annee recently erupted with a 22 points, via six 3-pointers during a 54-31 trouncing of Plainfield earlier in the month.

Emerging from obscurity in events such as Brandon Clay‘s Elite 100 Showcase, Annee is now tracking as one of the next high level shooters out of Indiana.
